This is a small black marble clock circa 1900 made by the Ansonia Clock Company, Connecticut USA. The case is black marble with variegated marble inserts and has gilded engraving to the front panels. This lovely clock stands just 30cm high by 27cm wide and is 13cm deep. One small chip to the front left on the base, otherwise in very good condition and with a lovely sheen to the case.  The case is French, imported by Ansonia and with an Ansonia movement put in it. The company did this to compete with French imports and because there was no black marble available in the USA. It has an eight day striking movement all fully overhauled and features a visible escapement on the dial so the clock can be seen working. The clock strikes the half and the hours on a gong. Comes with correct double ended key, pendulum and setup instructions.
