This French carriage clock is in a class of its own. It has an attractive dial and is housed in a very nice substantial brass case in the style known as Cannalee, certainly one of the rarer carriage clock case styles. It stands just 19cm high with the handle up. The case has been polished and lacquered so will look great for years. All glasses are perfect.
The eight day movement has been overhauled and new mainsprings put in. The platform escapement is original. This clock strikes the hours and the half hour on a gong and also has the hour repeat function whereby pressing the button on top will cause the clock to strike the previous hour. There is also an alarm function certain to wake those inclined to be sluggish in the morning. Comes with double ended key for winding and adjusting the clock. Made circa 1890.
