This medium size French carriage clock has a lovely gilt case and stands 19cm high handle up. It is an antique being made about 1890 and has been fully restored and overhauled by us. It’s a very attractive case in the style known as Gorge with bevelled glasses all round and features a large viewing window on top so the original platform escapement can be seen working. The dial is enamel and undamaged. The eight day movement strikes the half and the hours on a gong at the rear of the clock. This clock is an hour repeater so when the button on top is pressed the clock will strike the previous hour. This was a useful function for Victorian travellers in the middle of the night.
